I started my yoga journey in 1999 whilst I was searching for a way to get and stay fit whilst giving me a more holistic approach; yoga proved to be that, and so much more than I bargained for – it changed my whole way of life!
Tim Steel my first yoga teacher is an accomplished Yogi of the Ashtanga school of Yoga and Karate teacher, having been taught by many of the modern day gurus including David Swenson. His Yoga experience spans more than 30 years, his strength as a teacher lies in his ability to awaken the spiritual, questioning side of a student through dynamic yoga and meditation.
Pursuing a hunger for more yoga knowledge, I started to train with Zoë Knott, whose Yoga path also spans over 30 years. She is an accomplished British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) diploma teacher and specialises in pregnancy Yoga. Her approach takes the building blocks of a posture, disassembling it into tiny segments, slowly rebuilding from a position of inner strength and stability. She is a constant source of knowledge and support and being a longstanding committee member of the BWY she has a vast knowledge of the principles of Yoga and its modern day challenges. I completed my Yoga Foundation course and 500 hrs Teaching Diploma with the BWY.
With this strong foundation, my style of yoga is predominately Hatha Yoga but grounded with so many elements of dynamic Ashtanga. In 2009 I started my own yoga class in Biggin Hill, Kent, teaching group classes and privately one-to-one. I also taught in a Holistic gym MoorEnergy in Westerham, Kent moving into Corporate Yoga, teaching at one of Britain’s largest pharmaceutical companies GlaxoSmithKline.
The lasso of Love brought me to the beautiful island of Barbados in autumn 2012, married in Nov 2012 to my perfect soul partner; I look forward to continuing my yoga and life story, with the beautiful backdrop of the Caribbean Sea.
